How to spot an undersold competition before it closes

Ticket caps, sold counters and closing times: the three numbers that tell you where your chances are genuinely best.

An undersold competition is one where the tickets remaining are high relative to the time left on the clock. It is the single most useful signal in this market, and most entrants ignore it because the headline prize is what gets promoted.

Start with the cap. Any operator serious about transparency publishes the maximum number of tickets. No cap means no calculable odds — treat that draw as entertainment, not value.

Next, the sold counter. Compare percentage sold against percentage of the entry window elapsed. A draw that is 30% sold with 80% of its window gone is undersold; a draw 70% sold at the halfway point is not.

Finally, the closing time. Sales spike in the last few hours, so a draw that looks undersold two days out may not be by the time it closes. The practical window for acting on the signal is usually the final 24 to 48 hours.

Put those three numbers together and you can rank competitions by opportunity rather than by prize glamour — which is exactly what our Undersold page does automatically.
